I recently wrote a blog about how I have been determined to make this a great summer. Since that post, I have many many strides in the right direction. It’s only July, but I am pretty convinced that this summer will be one for the memory books. It will become known as My 25th Summer. Haha.
I feel as though the older we get, the more days, weeks, months… summers… start to slide together in to one big blob. There is a new phase going around — YOLO: You only live once. It may be an annoying catch phase to some, but least it has a great meaning. I’m living life to the fullest and here are some of this summer’s highlights thus far.
Seven Years Strong
My boyfriend and I had our seven-year anniversary in late June. This guy is a keeper. Justin supports me through all of my artsy nonsense, stressful school and my attempt at reaching a million goals. He’s my positive reinforcement and reminder of the important things. I can’t believe we made it this long and can’t wait to see what the future will bring.
Camping with My Fam
I am incredibly spoiled in the fact my mom volunteers for the county, which gives her points that can be redeemed for camping. We enjoyed a weekend of camping at Addison Oaks earlier this month. Addison Oaks is a great park because it’s not too far from home, but still offers a great sense of nature – wildlife included. We usually have a few raccoon and chipmunk visitors during our stay. This year was especially nice because my niece is learning the ways of camping. At only 20-months, Addison was ready to help my boyfriend with gathering sticks for the fire and searching for searching for sea shells with me. It was a fantastic family vacation and I cannot wait for camping trip No.2 in August.
Getting at least 50 items uploaded to my etsy store was a goal of mine for this summer. I have been creating inventory, taking product pictures and uploading my jewelry pieces to etsy. However, I am proud to say that my 50+ items have been listed and I even managed to sell two pieces! This is one small step in my path of selling my handmade jewelry.
Best Friends for Life
Within our busy lives, it’s easy to get sidetracked and lose touch with the important people. This summer I have managed to reconnect with my two best friends from my younger years. Christina has been my best friend since the second grade. She is one of the smartest people I know and it was great hearing about her accomplishments as an adult. Denise has been my best friend since eighth grade. Our friendship has lasted through her move to Bay City and a variety of life problems. Now that she is getting married, she has asked me to stand in her wedding. I am so honored and excited for her special day next year! Reconnecting with these two wonderful ladies has been so refreshing and uplifting. It really goes to show you that real friendships can withstand anything.
It’s only July. I have a month and a half left of my summer vacation before I return to the grueling college life. Next up, my trip to St. Joseph and ventures along the west coast of Michigan. Following that, my family and I will take camping trip No.2 during one of the best meteor showers of the year.
How are you spending your summer? I’d love to hear about it!
